Trip to MOTAT

Today we had our exciting trip to MOTAT.

When we arrived, we had a hands on classroom experience learning about the 6

components of simple machines - Levers, Pulleys, Wheel and Axels, Inclined Planes, Wedges and Screws.

Next we had a ride on the Tram.

After that we explored the Machine Exhibition.  

Finally we looked at the interesting things in the other MOTAT Exhibitions.

Maths

We are learning to say the number before and after (up to 20).

We have been using a number line to help us.

We have also been using our whiteboards to practise writing our numbers.

Today we practised our patterns to 5 using counters.

Dance

This term we are learning Dance.

We are very lucky to have a special dance teacher

 come and teach us.

Art - Portraits

In Art we are learning how to draw portraits.

It is very tricky. There are so many parts of the face that we have to think about, and how to draw them.

Patterns to 5

We are learning to make patterns to 5.

We have been using lots of different materials including our fingers.

Today we used peg boards and teddies to make our patterns to 5.

For example:

1+4=5 

2+3=5

3+2=5

4+1=5

5+0=5

This term in Inquiry we are learning about Simple Machines.

(Functions).

A simple machine helps us do things and makes it easier for us to do things.
